The fitting option you choose will relate to where exactly you’re fitting the blind – this can also affect the measurements slightly too so you need to make sure you select the correct one.
To help make things clearer, take a look at our quick guidelines below for a recess or exact fitting:
Recess Measurement

When you are fitting your blind in the window recess (the hole in the wall where the window sits) then you simply need to measure wall to wall and top to bottom in the alcove itself.
If you’ve measured the space exactly, we’ll make a slight deduction when we process the order (1cm overall on the width for all blinds, except roller blinds which is only 6mm) to ensure that your blind fits in nice and tight but doesn’t get caught on the sides at all as you try to operate it.
Exact Measurement

If you prefer to fit your blind to cover the recess completely (quite popular with roller and roman blinds) then you’ll need to measure from the exact point that you want your blind fitted.
For example, if you want it to overlap the sides of your window by 5cm at each end, you’ll need to measure from 5cm to the left of the window, right up to 5cm to the right of the window and give us that measurement as the width – by selecting “exact” in the fitting option, it ensures that we won’t make any deduction.
